Villa Balbianello is one of the most beautiful and fascinating villas on Lake Como. Located on a promontory overlooking the lake, it offers stunning views of the entire lake shore. The villa is rich in history and curiosities, making it even more interesting to visit. It was built in the 16th century by Giovanni Battista Visconti Borromeo. The original villa consisted of a small castle and a garden; over the centuries, it underwent several extensions and renovations. In the 18th century, the villa was acquired by the Balbi family, which gave it its current name. The Balbi were owners of the villa for over a century, during which time the villa was transformed into a luxury residence. In the 20th century, it was acquired by Guido Monzino, an entrepreneur and collector, who turned it into his private residence. Monzino was a great lover of art and culture, and the villa was enriched with numerous works of art and objects of value. The villa has been used as a set for several films, including "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" and "Casino Royale".
